The secret to editable smartphone photos is rapid-burst exposure-bracketing. (rapid-burst: several photos taken upon one press of the shutter button | exposure-bracketing: multiple images at different exposure levels). At each press of the shutter button this combination can create a photo-set with all image-data required to create professional real estate images. These are not standard features on smartphones yet. For iOS devices (iPhones) these features can be added with an eight-dollar app; Pro Camera by Moment. Android devices have a free option; HedgeCam 2. (Note: These two apps are only suggestions we are familiar with. There are certain to be other applications available that can be found by searching rapid-burst exposure-bracketing apps for smartphones.)

Always hold your device in ‘landscape’ (horizontal) orientation, never in ‘portrait’ (vertical) direction. It is strongly recommended that all pictures be taken in RAW photo format and with use of a tripod for stability. Each burst will last about two seconds. The device must be held perfectly still for this duration. If not, the photos may be blurry which are not repairable. RAW format photos are non-compressed, therefore, maintain all original image data. If you happen to have a device that does not support RAW, the next best option is JPEG images. There will be some limitations, nevertheless, your photos can still be professionally edited.

It is important to note RAW files are 5-10 times larger than JPEG or HEIC files. Each shutter tap will take 3 photos. So before you begin, be certain your device has enough memory space for a minimum 150 RAW photos.

Smartphone Photography Tutorial

After scheduling ProPicFix real estate photo editing, you will receive a confirmation email including an upload link. This link will allow you to upload directly from the photo library on your mobile device. You can also upload from a folder on your desktop or laptop if preferred. The upload will be very large and take some time – you may need to separate into multiple sets depending on your connection speed.

Please pick through your photos and upload only those you wish to include on your listing before the uploading process. The upload form includes a text-box for comments and instructions. Sharing information will help focus the editing process.

Photo Upload Instructions

When processing is finished, you will receive an email with the completed images attached. The files will be web optimized (1536px x 1024px) versions in JPEG format as preferred by real estate listing services. You can expect your processed photos in 24-48 hours. (If you have specific timeline constraints please outline during the scheduling process.)

If any of the images are required for print media – the full-size printable file will be shared as well. Much larger files, only 1 or 2 print images can be attached per email. Therefore, please specify which particular images are needed for print media.
